Who can play for the Chili Lions?
In general, players and cheerleaders for the Chili Lions must live in the towns of Gates,
Chili, Riga, and Wheatland. However, there are additional rule with regard to
zip code, school districts, and players and cheerleaders who
have played in the past for the Lions (and their siblings). If there is any
question with regard to eligibility contact either our President or the
Coordinators listed on the "Contacts" page.
HOME FIELD and Practices:
During August - Davis
Park - Off of Chestnut Ridge Road (MAP)
After August -
Memorial Park - In the back of the Chili Recreation - 3235 Chili Avenue (MAP)
REGISTRATION AND CERTIFICATION:
You must have...
1. Original Birth Certificate, or other proof of age that we will copy.
2. A completed Medical Form signed by a Doctor or other licensed medical
official, certifying that the participant is physically fit to play tackle
football or to cheerlead. The form must be dated no earlier than January 1, 2006
3. At the end of the school year, supply us with a copy of final Report Card for the
2005-2006 School year, showing all
quarters or semesters, and front and back covers.
4. A photograph, head and shoulders only, NO HAT or CAP or other person in
the picture
5. Cash or check made out to "Chili Lions Youth Football" for $120.00 for everyone, additional family members are
$90. The Registration Fee is $100 and $75
respectively if paid before March 5, 2006.
6. Mandatory Fundraiser of either prepaying for two boxes of candy
($104), or a buyout of the fundraiser by paying $54.
7. A child will not be allowed to practice until all requirements above are met.
This includes the time it takes to process the paperwork, which, depending on
the volume, could be a few days.
AGE DIVISIONS:
Reference your child's month and year of birth. Where they cross
is you child's age for the 2006 Season.

PLAYING LEVELS
Each Player will be weighed-in during the practice season for
Safety Certification. Players
must play in their own weight division. Divisional weight
requirements are:

Each player is weighed-in before each game; Players may gain 1
lb. per week after the first game, if they are certified. If a Player is not certified, they are not allowed the 1 lb. per
week gain, but must weigh in at the weight listed above. Players who do not attend the weigh-in or do not
meet the weight limits are not allowed to play in that game.
Mitey-Mites are a fun instructional league with equipment. A score is kept, but
only to assure that the "running up the score" rules are adhered ti..
SAFETY
The Pop Warner football program emphasizes player safety. Every
player must have a
Doctor's approval to play. At every practice or game, a person
qualified to administer
first aid will be present. Before any player participates in
physical contact drills against
another player, he will have had 20 hours of intensive physical
conditioning. At each
practice and before each game, he will go through a thorough
routine of stretching and
warming up exercises. Before he ever takes the field in a game,
he will have had over 20
hours of vigorous training and conditioning. When they plays, their games will be officiated
by certified football officials.
EQUIPMENT
Each Player is issued the following equipment:
- Helmet with face mask and chin straps
- Mouth guard
- Shoulder pads (Wear at least a T-Shirt because of the
straps)
- Hip girdle with pads
- Thigh pads
- Knee pads
- Practice pants
- Game jersey and pants
Each Cheerleader is issued the following equipment:
- Shirt
- Shell (Vest)
- Windpants
- Windjacket
- Hair Scrunchie
- Socks
- Sweatshirt
Each Player is expected to provide his own:
- Shoes (Must NOT have detachable/screw-in cleats)
- Athletic supporter
- socks
- Custom mouth guards, if preferred, (made by dentists) must
attach to helmet face
guard.
Each Cheerleader is expected to purchase the following item approved of by
Chili Lions:
- Body Midriff
- Lollies
- Sports bra
- Sneakers
- Glass Holder (if they wear glasses)
